PLYMOU — Mid-Ohio ESC’s Preschool, located in Plymouth, recently received a prestigious 5-star rating in the new Step Up to Quality rating system, which is based on national research standards.

Step Up to Quality is Ohio’s rating system administered by the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. Participating programs can earn from one to five stars.

Under the leadership of Preschool Coordinator Toni Zehe, preschool teacherKathryn Kleman and assistantFaith Oswalt, the preschool team submitted a comprehensive written report. This fall, ODE evaluators conducted a 60-minute interview with Kleman and observed instruction in the classroom, as well as reviewing teacher lesson plans, assessments, data collection, artifacts and practices.

According to Zehe, “Katie and Faith work hard on a daily basis to ensure that their students receive the best preschool experience possible. The 5-star Step Up to Quality rating reflects their hard work. The Plymouth community is fortunate to have such a quality preschool.”
