COLUMBUS — State Representative Mark Romanchuk (R-Mansfield) honored the Lexington High School boys 4×800-meter relay team as 2016 Division II State Champions and Nick Stricklen as a 2016 Division II State Track and Field Champion.
“Lexington High School has a rich history when it comes to winning state championships in track and field,” stated Rep. Romanchuk. “It was a privilege to honor state champions Forest Volz, Ryan Johnston and Nick Stricklen with a House Resolution today for their amazing effort.”
The Lexington High School boys 4×800-meter relay team set a school record with their 7:48.5 time, earning them the 2016 Division II State Championship title. The team consisted of sophomores Ryan Johnston and Forest Volz and seniors Bailey Stach and Nick Stricklen.
Additionally, 4×800-meter relay anchor runner, Nick Stricklen, was named the 2016 Division II State Champion in the 3,200 meter run at the Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Nick won the title with a time of 9:25.61 in the eight lap race. Currently, he is attending the University of Akron and is a member of the track and field team.
The Lexington High School boys 4×800-meter relay team and Nick Stricklen were present to accept the resolutions at Ohio House session.
