MANSFIELD — Two people were arrested this week when detectives from the Richland County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit caught them in the act of stealing a riding mower and a flat screen television on Wednesday, according to a press release.

David Scott Murray, 53, and Devi Celeste Jordan, 42, were arrested at the 1600 block of Friday Lane on Wednesday afternoon. Authorities say the duo were observed in a white Ford F-150 truck with Georgia plates.

“After attempting to steal a riding mower, Murray forced entry into the residence. Detectives pursued after Murray and found him inside the residence attempting to steal a flat screen TV,” the press release states.

Both suspects were arrested without incident, according to the sheriff’s office. Murray was charged with burglary and Jordan was charged with complicity to commit burglary, both second-degree felonies. They were booked at the Richland County Jail.

Ontario Police and sheriff’s patrol deputies responded to the scene and assisted with securing the suspects, reporting and scene processing, the sheriff’s office reports.

Those with information regarding additional burglaries or crimes involving Murray and Jordan are encouraged to contact the Major Crimes Tip line at 419-774-5610.
