“And we’re underway at the corner of Carnegie and Ontario.” Chuck enjoyed hearing Tom Hamilton’s famous opening phrase signaling the start of America’s pastime in Cleveland… his Indians were about to play baseball.
The bottom of the ninth came and the third out was made for Charles R. “Chuck” Crawford Jr. as he passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016 in his home surrounded by his family. He was 62.
He was born July 1, 1954 in Mansfield to parents Charles & Peggy (Walker) Crawford. After he graduated from Ontario High School with the class of 1972, he proudly served his country by joining the U.S. Navy.
A young lady named Kathy Burkholder caught his eye and the pair married on May 13, 1978.
Chuck worked at Hartman Tyco Electronics as a fabrications supervisor, Excel Goodyear in Shelby as well as Stratosphere Quality.
He supported the Cleveland Browns but the Cleveland Indians were his favorite team to support. He enjoyed baseball so much he even coached his boys in little league.
He is survived by his loving wife Kathy Crawford, of Lexington; sons Kyle P. Crawford and Sean R. Crawford, both of Mansfield; father Charles R. “Chuck” Crawford Sr.; sister Jennifer L. Clarson; sister-in-law Sandy (Terry) Koozer; niece Amy (Brian) O’Donnell; nephew Matt (Jen) Koozer; two great-nieces; two great-nephews; step-siblings Russ, Patty and Carolyn; half-brother Rick Crawford; his favorite cat Shadow as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Chuck was preceded in death by his grandparents; mother Peggy E Boyle; step-father William J. Boyle; step-mother Louise Crawford.
Although no public service will be held in Chuck’s memory, his family hopes that you will hold him in your heart as you remember him in your own special way.
