Anna “Ruth” (Salyers) Barrett, 78, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 17, 2016, following a brief illness.
Ruth was born on April 11, 1938 in Lucas, to Sherman A. and Dora M. (Ramey) Salyers. She attended Promise Land Fellowship and loved to read her Bible and go to church. Ruth loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed canning and her flower garden.
She is survived by her husband, James Barrett Sr.; two children, Jimmy Barrett Jr. and Lisa Barrett, both of Mansfield; four grandchildren, Nikki (Jesse) Howard, Brittany (Jeff) Barker, Lacy Barrett, and James A. Barrett; seven great-grandchildren, Audryna, Paityn, Braisyn, Kinzley, Lannden, Nevaeh, and Lyndyn; and four siblings, Clyde Salyer, Pauline (Don) Heidecker, Earl Salyers, all of Mansfield, and Lee (Sue) Salyers, of Zephyrillis, FL.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; great-granddaughter, Lailah Grace Nichols; three sisters, Blanche York, Christine Smith, and Dorothy Salyers; and one brother, Arnold Salyers.
Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, at Werner Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Wiseman officiating. Burial will take place in Springmill Cemetery.
