Marilyn Jean (Baker) Bailey

Marilyn Jean (Baker) Bailey, 81 of Galion went home to be with her Lord and Savior, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016 exactly 10 years to the day that her husband preceded her in death.

She was born Dec. 7, 1934 in Shelby and was the daughter of Leo and Mary (Young) Baker. On July 10, 1952 she married Bert Bailey Sr. and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage until his passing on Aug. 9, 2006.

She lived her entire life in Richland County until the death of her husband at which time she moved to Galion to be closer to her children. 

Marilyn was a member of the Shiloh United Baptist Church and retired as Deputy Director for the Mansfield Metropolitan Housing Authority. She was also the former clerk for the Village of Shiloh. Marilyn was an avid dirt track and NASCAR fan and cherished the time she spent with her family.

She is survived by children Bert (Lorrie) Bailey Jr., of Galion, and Jacqueline (Charles) Maynard, of Ontario; three grandchildren Matthew (Dawn) Bailey, of Galion, Dustin Bailey, of Hilliard, and Jami (Maynard) Hedrick, of Ontario; five great-grandchildren Makaylia Bailey, Hali Bailey and Zachery Bailey, all of Galion, Ethan Hedrick and Evan Bachelder, both of Ontario; great-great grandson Aiyden Hiatt, of Galion; sister Donna (Dale) McLaughlin, of Mansfield; nephew Bryan Bloom, of Mansfield; nieces Mandy Love and Donyll Kiah, both of Mansfield; brother-in-law Delmer Bailey, of Shiloh, and three sisters-in-law Roberta Cole, of Mansfield, Elva Reed and Polly Lacey, both of Shelby.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, husband and an infant son Jeffrey Allen Bailey. 

Following her wishes, there will be a graveside service Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh with Pastor Delmer Bailey officiating. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio in care of the funeral home.
