Helen Lucille Kreger Pollard Graham

Helen Lucille Kreger Pollard Graham passed away on Aug. 7, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

Helen was born July 12, 1924 to the late Harry and Blanche (Miller) Kreger, near Big Prairie in Holmes County. She was a 1942 graduate of Shreve High School and Wooster Business College. She began employment in the payroll department at Goodyear Aircraft in Akron.

She married Richard Pollard on Nov/ 2, 1942 and they had been married 20 years when he died on Aug. 26, 1962. She followed Richard to various states for two years while he was in the service, and upon his return in 1945, they relocated in Mansfield.

After Richard became disabled by Multiple Sclerosis, they moved to Perrysville and she left the statistical department at Ohio Brass to become employed in the Personnel Department of Mansfield Plumbing, of Perrysville, on Dec. 1, 1952. She was Employment Manager/Insurance Supervisor for the company, Editor of the company news magazine “The Sanskrit,” and performed many social duties as needed.

She retired on July 1, 1986. On April 30, 1965, she married Russell Graham and they were together until he died on July 4, 2002.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Loudonville and held many offices at the church. She was active in the Democratic Party and worked at the polls on election day for many years. She would have been very proud to cast her vote this fall for Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee and first female candidate from a major political party for president.

Helen is survived by daughter Carmen (Robert) Hall and son Richard (Judy) Pollard II, of Loudonville; six grandchildren: Stacy (Dan) Kucharczk, of Virginia, Shawna (Bill) Scarberry, of Loudonville, Heather (Keith) Burkhart, of Frazeyburg, Heidi (Mike) Bontatibus, of Pittsburgh, Chip (Jacque) Pollard III, of Loudonville, Jarrod Pollard, of Virginia; and 12 great-grandchildren: Megan Scarberry, Nate (Alex) Scarberry, Morgan Scarberry, Luke Scarberry, Grace Scarberry, Callie Scarberry, Chloe Kucharczk, Logan Kucharczyk, Drew Burkhart, Kate Burkhart, Addie Bontatibus, Analiese Bontatibus.

She was one of five sisters, and is survived by Irma Ammons of Bucyrus. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews — all who were dear to her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three infant brothers; three sisters: Ethel Coulter, Marie Trumpower, Edith Miller; and one great-grandaughter: Brooke LeighAnn Scarberry. 

She enjoyed her home life, and favorite past times were gardening and listening to polka music every Saturday morning. She was a member of the Mohican Historical Society. God was an important and steadfast part of her life — He was always with her throughout her life’s journey Helen’s greatest joys were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was well-loved, and her family was so very blessed to have her in their life.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 11 at 11 a.m. in Loudonville United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Steve Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville, OH. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 10 in Lindsey Funeral Home, of Loudonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Loudonville United Methodist Church, 124 N.
