BELLVILLE — LaMeshia Curry, a graduate of Clear Fork High School, is the recipient of a John J. Harper Scholarship at Barton College.
The renewable scholarship will cover $20,000 of tuition, divided into increments of $5,000 per year for four years.
Curry is the daughter of Leslee Cooley of Lexington, Ohio. She will enter Barton College in the fall semester and plans to major in biology with a pre-dentistry focus and a minor in business.
The John J. Harper Scholarship is awarded to entering freshmen who are well prepared to meet the challenges of a liberal arts education. Criteria for this award includes a minimum 2.5 GPA with a minimum SAT score of 850 or a minimum ACT score of 17, or a minimum 3.25 GPA regardless of SAT or ACT score.
A 2.5 GPA must be maintained to retain the scholarship four years. In addition to the required renewal GPA, students must maintain satisfactory academic progress, as outlined in the college catalog and be enrolled continuously on a full-time basis.
