Roger L. Kilgore, 73, of Bellville peacefully passed away Thursday July 14, 2016 in the Arbors of Delaware. He was surrounded by his family.
The son of Charles and Lottie (Goodwin) Kilgore, Roger was born May 16, 1943 in Bellville and attended Bellville High School. An Air Force veteran, Roger served 4 years and was honorably discharged in 1966. He retired after 30 years of service from Gorman Rupp Industries working as a mechanic.
Roger had a great sense of humor and was usually at the center of laughter. He loved to tinker with electronics and technology and listened to a variety of music selections from rock and salsa to symphonies. He loved to dance. Many sports caught his attention but Nascar racing and recently soccer were his favorites. Motorcycles and roller coasters filled him with excitement. He always had a camera and recorded so many memories. He fell in love with South America and traveled a few times to experience their culture. His Thanksgiving turkey, sweet potatoes, beef stew and lemonade will be missed.
He is survived by his wife Elena (Arias) Kilgore of Bellville; son Roger (Malena)Montoya of Lewis Center and daughter Leigh Noble (Allen)of Florida; grandchildren Gabriele M. Noble , Daniel E. Montoya, Mateo Montoya, Gianna F. Peralta, siblings Larry (Phyllis) Kilgore, Pat (Bill) Elrod, Ladonna Sparks, Gerald Shaffer, Steve (Judy) Shaffer, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Along with his parents Roger was preceded in death by his sister Juanita Shepherd.
A memorial gathering, celebrating the life of Roger L. Kilgore, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery. Celebrant Jerry Wilson will officiate.
