Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Carpenter, 67, of Mansfield, died Friday, Aug. 5, 2016 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital after an extended illness.
Betty was born Aug. 14, 1948 in Pineville, Kentucky, to Henry and Geraldine (Lowe) Neal. She graduated from Bell County High School in Pineville and attended Morehead State University where she received a degree in nursing.
Betty’s family was her ultimate hobby and surviving her are: her husband, Larry Wayne Carpenter, whom she wed in 1982; a daughter: Karen (Paul) VonStein, of Shiloh; three sons: Larry (Elaine) Carpenter, of Mansfield, Kevin Carpenter, of North Carolina, and Tracey Carpenter, of North Carolina; her mother: Geraldine Neal, of Ewing, Virginia; nine grandchildren: Michael Paul, Patricia Carpenter, Christina Smith, Traci Carpenter, Terri Murphy, Taylor Carpenter, Eric Carpenter, Cory Carpenter, Caleb VonStein; 13 great grandchildren; four brothers and sisters: Nancy Anna Cannon, of Ewing, Virginia, Frank (Pauline) Neal, of Tazewell, Tennessee, David (Phyllis) Neal, of Tazewell, Tennessee, Lisa (Dennis) Grubbs, of Pineville, Kentucky; and a very special niece that Betty and Larry have loved like a daughter: Michelle Medek Smith.
Family and friends are welcome on Monday, Aug. 8, 2016 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 W. Main St., Shelby, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Pastor Steve Baldridge, Pastor of Rome Community Church, will officiate and burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Shiloh. Memorial contributions may be made to Cass Bloominggrove and Shiloh Volunteer Fire Department.
