Scott M. “Ottie” Black

Scott M. “Ottie” Black, 43, of Crestline, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2016 at OhioHealth MedCentral Mansfield Hospital, Mansfield, after a long battle with diabetes.

Scott was born in Lubbock, Texas, on Oct. 14, 1972 to Gary R. and Cindy M. (Taylor) Black. They both survive him.

Scott lived in Crestline his entire life. He attended Pioneer JVS and was a graduate of Crestline High School, Class of 1992. During his high school days, he played football for the Crestline Bulldogs. He then attended ITT Tech in Dayton.

Before his illness, Scott worked as a machinist. He also was a car salesman at Mathews Car Dealership, Bucyrus. Scott loved and enjoyed taking care of his Grandma Hamman. He enjoyed fishing, his trucks, and his family. His dogs were very important to him. It would always make Scott happy when his granddaughter, Aleah, called him Paw Paw Boo Boo.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Brieann Johns, Bucyrus, his granddaughter, Aleah Rice, his brother, Todd Black, Crestline, his nieces, Haylee and Marissa Black, and his maternal grandma, Esther Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandpa, Harold “Rusty” Taylor, his paternal grandparents, Charles Black and Florence Hamman.

Friends may call Friday, Aug. 5, 2016 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, 223 West Main St., Crestline. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016 at Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, 223 West Main St., Crestline, with Reverend Doctor Ronald Kline officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crawford County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
