MANSFIELD — “The Furnace” at Mansfield Christian is set to be the site of winter break basketball competition this year.
The school has announced the launch of the first 12-team Girls Holiday Showcase. The single-day showcase will tip off on Tuesday, Dec. 27. Twelve teams will each play one game for the six-game showcase.
Recently named among the top 50 Christian schools, MCS hopes to highlight and celebrate the talents of girls programs around the state.
“First, it is a day full of basketball – a hoops enthusiast’s dream,” said event organizer and MCS girls basketball head coach J.R. Wilson.
The event has booked a slate of Ohio’s premier high school basketball officials for the event.
“Sometimes girls sports are overlooked and I want this to be a day to showcase both local girls talent and girls talent from around the state,” he said. “We want players, coaches, and fans to enjoy great hospitality and feel like they are part of something special.”
Admission to the event will available all-day basis as well as a single game basis. Concessions will be available throughout the day.
