C-130H Hercules from the 179th Airlift Wing leave for deployment overseas from Mansfield on Saturday, Feb. 27. The Ohio Air National Guard unit is sending aircrew and operations support as well as maintenance personnel to support their aircraft. The Ohio Air National Guard is always on mission to respond with highly qualified citizen airmen to execute federal, state and community missions.

MANSFIELD — More than 100 members of the 179th Airlift Wing are returnng Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 2 p.m., the 179th Airlift Wing will welcome home the final rotation of returning deployed members from a historic mission with the C-130H Hercules aircraft.

This is the first the unit has deployed with the C-130H Hercules since the aircraft returned to the 179th Airlift Wing following a mission conversion from the C-27J Spartan back to the C-130H Hercules. Members have been deployed from three to six months in support of tactical airlift missions throughout the middle-east.

The first rotation of this deployment consisting of around 56 airmen and two aircraft arrived back safely on July 4. The remaining two aircraft and approximately 56 more members are expected to return at the July 6 Homecoming.
