Harold “Billy” W. Gerhart, 62, of Shelby, died Thursday, June 30, 2016 at his residence. Born December 28, 1953 in Olive Hill, Kentucky, he was the son of Corbin and Joy (Porter) Gerhart.
Billy was a 1971 graduate of Madison High School and was co-owner of Bike Shop North, was owner/operator of FedEx Ground and was currently the owner of AJ’s Drive Thru and Shelby Beer Dock. He was a member of the Shelby Eagles and the Mansfield Moose Lodge for many years. He loved fishing and boating on Lake Erie with his family and friends and riding his motorcycle but his greatest love was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Christine (Brickley) Gerhart whom he married in 1989; a daughter, Billie Jo Duncan, a son, David Gerhart and Sara Brown and her children, Devon and Carlie, a son, Benjamin Gerhart and Amber Keller and her children, Brohnson and Shayde; grandchildren, Brin Duncan, Sarah Duncan, Lacie Duncan, Remington Gerhart and a grandchild on the way; his mother, Joy Devore; siblings, Larry Gerhart, Gary (Debbie) Gerhart and Brenda (Dave) Markle; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dave and Nancy Brickley; brother-in-law, Mike (Denise) Brickley; numerous nieces, nephews and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Corbin Gerhart; his step father, Bearl Devore; a beloved son, Adam Josef Gerhart; and a brother, Keith Gerhart.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Joseph S. & Jeannette M.
