MANSFIELD — There will be an emergency tornado test throughout Richland County on Wednesday, March 23 at 9:50 a.m.

The test will include checking the emergency tornado siren alert system. There are 42 tornado sirens strategically located throughout the county. The sirens will be activated for a period of three minutes.

In the event of an actual tornado warning coming to a close, the all clear siren would sound for 30 seconds. This siren test is a part of severe weather awareness week March 20 through 26.

In the event of an actual emergency notification, residents should immediately take shelter and tune into the local radio or television station for further instructions.
