ASHLAND, Ohio – Ashland University Professor of English Dr. Deborah Fleming has published her second full-length poetry collection, titled “Into a New Country.”
The collection was released this month by Cherry Grove Press of Cincinnati.
The poems of “Into a New Country” follow the anonymous speaker through love and loss from youth to maturity; juxtapose and explore the subjects of love, death, art and war; and take readers to locations in Europe, Asia and American to discover “countries” of mind and heart.
According to Fleming, many examples of formalist and free verse make the book a possible choice for courses in creative writing.
Fleming has published one previous poetry collection, “Morning, Winter Solstice” (Vineyard, 2012); a novel “Without Leave” (winner of the Asheville Award from Black Mountain Press, 2014); and scholarship on Yeats, Jeffers, and Synge. She is currently editor of the Ashland Poetry Press.
