LaDonna June Van Wagner, 92, a resident of Shelby died Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 in Crestwood Care Center.
Born June 20, 1923 in Shelby, to Lloyd D. and Helen (Horner) Stiner, she was a lifelong Shelby resident. Mrs. Van Wagner was a 1941 graduate of Shelby High School.
She was a former employee of Shelby Sales Book, Wilkins Air Force Depot and Citizens Bank of Shelby. She then worked as the first female dispatcher for Ohio Highway Patrol Post #70. June took employment as a dispatcher with Mansfield Police Department and later with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department from which she retired. During the 1990’s she was employed part-time with J.C. Penney.
A member of First Lutheran Church, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, John R. and Peggy Van Wagner, of Shelby; two grandsons and spouses, Bryan and Regina Van Wagner, of Shelby and Broc and Christy Van Wagner, of Butler, Ohio; several great grandchildren; one sister, Marilyn Terman, of Shelby; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James E. Stiner.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 29, 2016 from Barkdull Funeral Home & Crematory in Shelby. Reverend Russel Yoak will officiate with interment in Oakland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 10 to 11 a.m.
