Donald R. McDaniel, 79, of Mansfield, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Born June 5, 1936 in Vanceburg, Kentucky, he was the son of Everett and Grace (Staggs) McDaniel.
A hard worker, he worked in the auto glass industry as a technician for 56 years and loved to work on cars. He was a member of the Journey Life Center Church where he was an Elder and Deacon. He has a great sense of humor, loved children, and was known as “Big Tex” on the CB.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn (Carroll) McDaniel; a son, Jim McDaniel; a daughter, Terrie Stollings; three granddaughters, Melissa McDaniel and her fiancé Matt, Jeni McDaniel and Ashley (John) Roberts; two grandsons, Brandon (Kristy) McDaniel and Jimmy Lee McDaniel; three step granddaughters; numerous great grandchildren; one brother, Eddie McDaniel; a brother-in-law, Gary “Butch” Ingles; and two sisters-in-law, Naomi Henderson and Barbara Duncan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters; a son-in-law, Roy Stollings, Sr.; and a daughter-in-law, Vesta Marie McDaniel.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at 1 p.m. in Journey Life Center, 2578 State Route 39 NW, Mansfield.
