Helen M. Deere, 94, of Mansfield, died Friday, January 15, 2016 at Hospice House in Ashland. Born April 13, 1921 in Mansfield, she was the daughter of Frank and Beatrice (Donough) Boger.
She was the widow of Kenneth Deere, Sr., a retired Captain of the Sheriffs Department. She helped with Kenneth’s sign painting business and his hobby of Sneaky the Magic Clown. She worked at the Coleman Heating Company, The Bissman Company, served as Matron for the Sheriffs Department and for Juvenile Judge Johns as transportation officer. She loved to travel, play cards and go garage sale hopping. She was a Jehovah’s Witness since 1953.
She is survived by her son, Kenneth Deere, Jr. and his wife, Sandy; a granddaughter, Vickie Wallace (Gary); three grandsons, David L. Bachmann of Fredericktown, John P. Deere (Kristy) and Jason R. Deere (Jeri) of Greer, South Carolina; a great grandson, David Wallace; two great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her constant companion, Teddy, her beautiful cat.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Carolyn K. Bachmann; and a brother, Raymond McDade.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the funeral home conducted by Elder David Dunn with additional visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
