Earl Lee Dalton

Earl Lee Dalton, 84, of Mansfield, died Friday evening, Jan. 15, 2016 in Ohio Health MedCentral Hospital following a short illness.

Earl was born Oct. 27, 1931 in Kewanee, Illinois, the son of the late Green C. and Feryl Irene (Miller) Dalton. He was a graduate of Weathersfield High School, Kewanee, and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Earl was a Mansfield resident since 1994, living in Loudonville from 1958 until his retirement from Mansfield Plumbing Products after 34 years working as an industrial engineer.

Earl’s favorite hobby was rebuilding Ford 8N and 9N tractors but he also enjoyed boxing, Illinois football and basketball, and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Bross) Dalton, whom he married June 30, 1980; two sons, David (Mary Ann) Dalton, of Johnstown, and Michael (Lori) Dalton, of Mansfield; three daughters, Lynda Dalton, of Wooster, Elizabeth (Michael) Leasure, of Ashland, and Caroline Sellers, of Shelby; a step-daughter, Carrie (Neil) Howe, of South Wells, New York; 17 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Claranne Souba Dalton in 1970, and a sister, Marvel Ray. 

Funeral services with military honors by the American Legion and VFW will be held on Monday, Jan. 18 at 2:30 p.m. in Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville, with Pastor Tony Pingitore of Mosaic Church, Mansfield officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Kewanee, Illinois. Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral services on Monday.
