Theresa Mary Leonhardt passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2016 in Brooklyn, New York, surrounded by her loving family.
Theresa was born on June 2, 1924 to Anthony and Josephine Foos. She was a longtime resident of Shelby, Ohio — moving more recently to Brooklyn for her final years.
She is survived by her children, Sally (Joseph) Nelson, Edward Leonhardt, Amy Winegardner, Cathy (Robert) Samsel, and Mary (Lawrence) Burns. Theresa was the adored grandmother of six grandchildren, David Barker, Renae Wells, Brooke Cooper, Lindsey Nelson, Thomas Samsel and Katrina Samsel; four great grandchildren, Tyler Shank, Sadie Cooper, Annie Cooper and Maria Cooper.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Paul D. Leonhardt; her siblings, Harold Foos, Donald Foos, Sr. Noella, Sr. Althea, Sr. Roselma, Ruth Bettac, Sr. Vincent, Earl Foos, Dale Foos, Rita Foos, Bertha Foos, Eileen Foos and Anthony Foos and son-in- law Leroy Winegardner.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016 at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Shelby. Father Jim Sanford will officiate with interment at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Barkdull Funeral Home and Crematory in Shelby Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial expressions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
