Cleo Lorentz

Cleo E. Lorentz, 90, of Lakeville died Thursday afternoon, Jan. 7, 2016 in Brookdale Senior Living, Wooster following an extended illness. Cleo was born March 5, 1925 in Green Twp., Ashland County and was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Ida Grace (Spreng) Dennis. She was a 1943 graduate of Loudonville High School and lived in the Loudonville-Lakeville area all of her life. Cleo always considered herself a farmer first and farmwife second and loved gardening, canning, baking, and crocheting. She enjoyed sharing the bounty of her garden and kitchen with family, friends and neighbors. Cleo was a member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, McZena and for more than 30 years she served as a Precinct Judge in Lake Twp. for the Board of Elections. On July 6, 1945 she married Robert B. Lorentz and he died Dec. 5, 2004.

Cleo is survived by six children: Larry (Nancy) Lorentz of Lakeville, Linda (Jim) Fleming of Mansfield, Barbara (Randy) Shriver of Jeromesville, Carol (Bob) Slates of Dalton, Cindy (Jeff) Hudson and Sharon (Marlin) Oyer, both of Wooster; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Maurer of Lakeville; and a brother, Paul (Adeline) Dennis of rural Ashland. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two grandsons, Brian Slates and Robert Thomas Fleming; and four brothers: Jacob, Carl, Daniel, and Alfred Dennis.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. in St. John Ev. Lutheran Church, McZena, with Rev. Angel Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. in Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville. Memorial contributions may be given to St. John Ev.
