Joan M. Otey, 83, of Mansfield, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
Born Feb. 15, 1932 in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of John Campbell.
She married Archie A. Otey when he returned from the service. Joan moved to the Mansfield area in the 1950’s and retired from Therm-O-Disc following 20 years of service. She enjoyed bowling, Bingo and NASCAR — with Jeff Gordon being her favorite driver.
She is survived by a son, Michael Wayne Otey; two grandchildren, Michael Wayne (Kelly) Otey Jr., and Tammy Lynn (Danny) Vasquez; two great grandchildren, Michael Vasquez and Justine Vasquez; a sister, Vera Kempp; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie A. Otey on Dec. 23, 1970 — the same day as Joan’s death; sisters, Ethel Thomas, Dorothy, Patsy and Lillian; brothers, Johnny Campbell, Jr. and Billy Campbell; and a daughter-in-law, Stella Justine Otey.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd., Ontario. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Buckhannon, West Virginia at a later date.
