MANSFIELD, Ohio – Two people were hurt in a two-car accident on U.S. 30 eastbound on Monday afternoon.
Two individuals went to the hospital and traffic backed up for approximately an hour on Monday afternoon.
Authorities say a 2000 Camaro coming onto the highway from the East Longview ramp slid into a four-door SUV, causing the SUV to flip onto its top.
According to Capt. Joe Boebel with the Mansfield Fire Department, the department transported two individuals from the SUV to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
The driver of the Camaro, 19-year-old Cody Boyce, said as he was coming onto the highway he hit a slick spot, causing him to lose control. Boyce was walking and talking at the scene, and said he sustained no injuries other than being shaken up.
According to Boyce, the two individuals in the SUV were a mother and son.
“I just hope they’re OK,” he said. “As long as they’re OK, I’ll be OK.”
Capt. Boebel was unable to comment on the extent of the injuries sustained to the individuals in the SUV.
