Harley W. Hoover, 87, of Mansfield, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015.
Harley was born on April 15, 1928, in Ashland, to Ward F. and Bessie M. (McKibben) Hoover. He attended Zion’s Refuge. He owned and operated Shiloh Shell and Attica Sunoco, before owning Hoover’s Garage for over 40 years. Harley enjoyed taking his antique cars to shows and parades, and received numerous trophies and plaques for them. He had many friends, and he loved to spend time with his family.
He is survived by two children, Brenda L. (Gale) Makeever of Mansfield, and David A. (Gina) Hoover of Ontario; four step-children, Angie (Larry) Hammett of Lucas, and Ginger (Bobby) Johnson of Mansfield, Roger Tabor, and Danny (Cheryl) Ginter of AZ; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Harley was preceded in death by his parents; second wife, Jerry Johnson; third wife, Jackie (Gayheart) Hoover; three children, Cindy M. Hoover, Harley E. Hoover, and stillborn daughter, Kimberly Hoover; step-son, Mike Kooken; sister, Mary Jane Gardner; and special friend, Betty Keinath.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD, 1106 Park Avenue East, Mansfield, OH. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 with Pastor Dave Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shiloh.
