Freda Wells Bowman, 98, of Ashland, passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 12, 2015, at The Good Shepherd in Ashland, Ohio. She was born Feb. 19, 1917, in Ashland, to the late Thomas J. and Mary C. (Mohn) Wells, one of 12 children.
Freda retired from A.L. Garber after 35 years of service. She loved cats and was surrounded by her feline friends throughout her life. In her spare time she enjoyed quilting. Spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, brought her much happiness.
Freda is survived by a son, Monte Bowman, of Polk, Ohio; three grandchildren, Melanie Heffelfinger, of Perrysville, Ohio, Eddie Crossen, of Indiana, and Rick Crossen, of Georgia; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter- and son-in-law, Nylia and Dale Crossen; four brothers, Francis, James, Roy and Walter Wells; and seven sisters, Bessie Bryan, Minnie Harmon, Flossie Irene Stackhouse, Moscow Morr, Mary Martin, Rozella Graham and Gladys Blaisdel.
A private funeral service will be observed. Burial will be in Ashland County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cat House Feline Sanctuary, 1130 W.
