COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Lexington boys and girls state champion cross country teams were honored earlier this week at the statehouse in Columbus.

State Representative Mark Romanchuk (R-Ontario) honored both squads for their Northwest District championship, Regional championship and Division II State championship titles. Romanchuk presented the student athletes with a resolution during the Ohio House session for their achievements.

“These student athletes have worked hard all season to earn these titles, and I am happy to be able to recognize them for their dedication and perseverance,” Romanchuk said.

Romanchuk also recognized Denise Benson, the cross country coach, for being named the 2015 State Coach of the Year. Benson is also a nominee for the National Coach of the Year award, which will be announced in January.
