MANSFIELD, Ohio — A number of individuals were honored when Richland County Sheriff Steve Sheldon conducted the department’s annual awards banquet on Saturday.

Sheldon presented the individual awards and expressed his support and appreciation for their hard work and dedication to their jobs.

The following individuals were recipients of the top honors.

Charles Bradford was the Corrections Officer of the Year; Sgt. Beau James earned Correction Supervisor of the Year; Joe Peters earned Deputy of the Year; Sgt. Richard Eichinger was recognized as Patrol Supervisor of the Year; Shirley Thompson collected Mounted Deputy of the Year; Richard Burkepile was tabbed Special Deputy of the Year; Nancy Daugherty earned Dispatcher of the Year; Venita Smith was Detective of the Year; and Alisa Finley was recognized as Civilian of the Year.

In addition, a Certificate of Appreciation went to detectives Joey Lewis and Duane Kilgore for outstanding performance of duty during the investigations of numerous aggravated burglaries/robberies in December, 2014.

“You went above and beyond the call of duty by risking … personal safety,” Sheldon noted. “As a result of your determination and teamwork you were able to investigate the incidents and provide the patrol bureau with necessary information that later turned into a pursuit with the suspect — along with an arrest.”
