JoAnn M. Keener

JoAnn M. Keener, 66, of Galion, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2015 at Oak Grove Manor, Mansfield, after a long illness.

She was born in Marion on Nov. 8, 1949 to the late Robert E. and Pearl C. (Carey) Dickerson. She married Kenneth A. Keener in March 1996 and he survives her.

She worked in food service most of her life, at the Eagles Lodge, Shelby, and Meijers, in Ontario. JoAnn had also worked as a manager at the former Hometown Inn. She loved to crochet and did until her arthritis made it too difficult. Her last baby blanket she made has been given to her great niece. She loved to cook from scratch and bake. She was the strength of her family and the love of Ken’s life.

She is survived by her nine children, Daniel (Dora) Murphy, of Mansfield, Cindy (Tony) Scully, of Crestline, Michael (Theresa) Marks, of Galion, Jonathon Marks, of Galion, Karen (Craig) Barnhart, of Johnsville, Christopher Keener, of Galion, Aliesha Keener, of Galion, Ashley (Nick) Lambert, of Marion, and Amber Keener, of Galion; 17 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and sister Linda Dickerson, of Harpster.

She was preceded in death by her grandson Dakota Scribner, a stillborn sister, and two brothers, John and Robert Dickerson.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
