Mae E. Schaeffer Weaver, 89, of Crestline, died surrounded by her family on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015 at Crestwood Care Center, Shelby, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Mae was born in Rose Valley, Pennsylvania, on June 13, 1926 to the late Ernest J. and Twila M. (Schrecengost) Schrecengost. She married Donald B. Schaeffer March 14, 1944 and he preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 1995. Mae then married James F. Weaver on Oct. 28, 2000 and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2012.

Mae moved to Crestline in 1960. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Crestline, and formerly of First English Lutheran Church. She was active in The Crestline Women’s Club, the Ruth Circle, and taught Sunday school for 40 years. She was employed by the Western Auto Store in Crestline. Mae enjoyed all kinds of needlework and sewing. She volunteered to make quilts with the women from the First English Lutheran Church and was involved with the Crestline Community Christmas. She enjoyed reading and playing the piano. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren and was very proud of them.

She is survived by two daughters and a son; Linda (Donald) Beach, of Mansfield, Susan (Michael) Hoffman, of Shelby, Larry (Shelia) Schaeffer, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; two grandchildren; Kevin Schaeffer, of San Francisco, California, Lana (Eric) Rendel, of Rochester Hills, Michigan; one great-granddaughter, Marina Rendel, her sister, Patricia Lafferty, of North Olmsted, her seven step-children; Charles (Sharon) Weaver, Francis Weaver, Mary Jo (Edward) Miller, Carol Lesseuer, Thomas (Janet) Weaver, Richard Weaver and Terrance Weaver.

In addition to her husbands she is preceded in death by her son in infancy, David, one granddaughter, Laura Beach, and her sister, June Troutman.

Friends may call Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, 223 W. Main St., Crestline. Friends may also call Monday, Dec. 7 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Crestline, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Diana Seaman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.
