Frank Thomas Massey Sr.

Frank Thomas Massey Sr., 61, passed away Monday, Nov. 30, 2015 in his Mansfield residence following a sudden illness.

He was born July 22, 1954, in Mountclair, New Jersey, to parents Frank Thomas Sr., and Shirley Natalie (Turull) Massey. After he graduated from Falmouth High School, he furthered his education by attending Cape Cod Community College. He met and married his wife, Patty, and in 1987 they moved the family to the Mansfield area.

Frank was self-employed as the owner and operator of Cardinal Floor Sanding. He enjoyed working with his father and later his son in the family business. In his spare time, Frank loved playing tennis, golfing with his sons, and taking cruises. When he played with his grandkids he didn’t care how goofy he looked, they had a ball together and he loved them to pieces.

Frank was an avid, lifelong Yankees fan. He also liked the Beatles, gummy bears and club soda. His friends and family will remember him as a hardworking and giving man who had a big heart.

Frank was a member of Ontario Christian Fellowship.

He is survived by his wife Patricia Massey, of Mansfield; four sons and a daughter: Frank Thomas Massey Jr., of Mansfield, Joseph Thomas and Jennifer Massey, of Delaware, James Thomas and Laura Massey, of Cincinnati, Rachel Dawn and Jeremy Armstrong, of Ontario, and Paul Thomas Massey and Bri Elais, of Mansfield; 13 grandchildren Julia, Jack, Jocelyn, Jane, Anna, Grace, Luke, Aiden, Harper, Brynn, Madison, Alexander and Benjamin; three siblings: Francine (Dan) Manningham, Edwin James (Adele) Massey, and Christine “Candy” (Gregory “Fitz” Fitzgerald) Reynolds; a dear friend Art Haring; a special nephew, Daniel Freeburn, along with numerous other nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly; extended family, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by an infant brother Frank James Massey, Jr.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2015 in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home (2553 Lexington Ave, Mansfield, Ohio 44904). A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ontario Christian Fellowship (636 Lexington-Springmill Rd.
