Margaret “Peggy” E. Knott, 80, of Mansfield, passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 28, 2015, in OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
She was born Feb. 6, 1935, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and was raised by the Joseph F. and Marcella F. Kircher family due to her parents passing away when she was very young. Peggy grew up in Pittsburgh and graduated from Baldwin High School.
Peggy worked at the Five and Dime where she met her husband, Harold Knott. They married on Oct. 15, 1955. Knowing how important family is, she devoted her life to being a wonderful stay-at-home mom. She was always available for her daughters and put their needs before everything, making many personal sacrifices along the way.
Peggy was a very friendly woman who never met a stranger and had the ability to make everyone feel that they were special. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, ceramics, jigsaw puzzles and watching sports, following the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Browns faithfully.
She is survived by three daughters, Deniece (Charles) Jeffries, Barbara (Jade) Williams and Linda (Tracy) White, all of Mansfield; five grandchildren, Jada (Mike) Cline, Jason Williams, Desiree Davidson, Diane (Mitchell) Stewart and Andrew White; a step grandson, Justin White; three great-grandchildren, Lucas Davidson, Rylie Davidson and Victoria Stewart; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Joseph F. and Margaret E. (Schmidt) Janzer, she is preceded in death by her grandma and grandpa Kircher; husband, Harold C. Knott who passed away on July 30, 1997; two brothers, Frank and Johnny Janzer; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marie and Karl Knott; and great-niece, Roxanne Janzer.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, in the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Rd. The funeral service conducted by Rev. Robert Stull will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with additional visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Ontario Cemetery.
Memorial contributions honoring the selflessness of Peggy may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
