MANSFIELD —The Mansfield Lahm Airport has been awarded an Ohio Department of Transportation aviation grant to support upgrades to the airport’s four runways.
“The Mansfield Lahm Aiport’s is located within a two-hour flight time of 60 percent of the U.S. population, making it an important asset for both Ohio and the nation,” said State Senator Larry Obhof (R-Medina). “Adequately maintaining this major transportation hub is critical to the longterm success of our region.”
The grant, awarded by the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Office of Aviation, will provide 95 percent of the $63,485 total project cost. The project will include repairs to runway wind cones and electrical and lighting upgrades.
Mansfield was among 24 Ohio airports selected for funding through the Ohio Airport Grant Program’s most recent round of projects.
Located three miles north of Mansfield, Lahm Airport is a transportation hub for many corporate clients as well as the home of Ohio’s 179th Airlift Wing.
