MANSFIELD, Ohio — UPDATE 3:45 p.m.– Downtown Mansfield, Inc. announced a delay in Downtown Mansfield’s Halloween festivities originally scheduled for Tuesday. Wet weather necessitated the change.

Monsterfield Masquerade, sponsored by Playtime Dental, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 31 beginning at 10 a.m. This event includes downtown Trick or Treat and the Halloween Parade.

The parade will step off at the corner of Fifth Street and Main Street at 10 a.m. Trick or Treat will follow immediately afterward.

Parade lineup will begin at 9 a.m. Participants will lineup on Fifth Street between Walnut Street and Diamond Street and Main Street between Fifth Street and Sixth Street. The route will begin at the intersection of Main Street and Fifth Street, then move south on Main Street, west on Park Avenue and north on Walnut Street. Parade participants will return to the original staging location for pickup.

Trick or Treat following the parade includes visits to more than 60 downtown merchants. Event maps with participating merchant locations will be available during the event and are available online at facebook.com/downtownmansfield or www.shopdineexploreandmore.com.

No candy will be distributed by parade participants. Due to ongoing safety concerns, this year, candy will not be passed out from moving parade units. Instead, parade participants are encouraged to set up during downtown Trick or Treat to pass out candy, flyers, items and interact with the public.

Families that plan to enjoy the event are encouraged to venture downtown to visit merchants. See the attached map for participating businesses. Again, no candy will be passed out during the parade.

Families are encouraged to bring children and participate in the festivities.
