MANSFIELD, Ohio — The treasurer at Mount Gilead schools, Trevor Gummere, will serve as Mansfield City School’s interim treasurer. He will serve as treasurer from Sept. 1 until Dec. 31.
Mansfield’s Board of Education entered into executive session Monday evening during a special meeting to appoint the interim treasurer.
Gummere will replace Rosetta Stephens, who retires August 31. The board of education has sought an interim, with the help of Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center, since Stephens announced her retirement in May.
Stephens continued to serve as the treasurer during the board’s search for her replacement, Board President Renda Cline said.
During the special meeting, the board of education resolved to enter into contract with the Ohio School Board Association to continue the search for a treasurer.
“Mid-Ohio was very thorough and we appreciated their service. They are quite diligent and very professional. They did an excellent search for us; we just were not successful with getting a treasurer at that time,” said Cline.
Cline did not comment as to why the search for a treasurer was discontinued with MOESC.
Gummere, an original candidate for the position when the search began with MOESC, will earn a per diem rate of $50 per hour on an as-needed basis, said Cline.
According to Cline, there are currently no candidates for the treasurer position, since the board has only just entered into a contract with OSBA.
The board of education will meet again for their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 15 at 5 p.m. in the Raemelton Administration Building.
