MANSFIELD, Ohio – With back-to-school around the corner, Richland Mall will host a fashion show, back-to-school specials, and a chance to win One Direction concert tickets.
At the mall this month:
• Pick up a passport: July 27 through 11 a.m. on August 8
Want to see One Direction at Ohio Stadium? Don’t have tickets? Mix 106.1, the Richland Mall and Directions Credit Union want to help.
Patrons are encouraged to stop in the Richland Mall Management Office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, now through August 7 to pick up a shopping passport. Then visit participating stores thru August 8 for a chance to win One Direction tickets and many more great prizes. Shoppers will need a parent or guardian if under 16 years of age.
• Win-It-Wednesday: throughout the month of August
Each Wednesday throughout August, the Richland Mall will be giving away passes to Ohio attractions such as Columbus Zoo, COSI, Zoombezi Bay, Clay’s Park, African Safari, Magic Mountain and Fort Rapids.
Check in Wednesday mornings for the question of the day. “Like” the mall on Facebook and comment or answer the questions and one lucky person will be chosen and announced the next day on the Facebook page.
• Mario Kart fastest lap contest at Game Stop: August 7, 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Patrons may stop in at GameStop in the Richland Mall and try to beat the fastest time in Mario Kart for the Wii U. The fastest time at the end of the day will win a prize .This is an all-day event from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.
• Ohio’s first tax free weekend: August 7 – 9
Mall shoppers should get their shopping plans ready: Ohio is going to have a sales tax holiday weekend, just in time for back to school. The holiday starts Friday, August 7, and ends on Sunday, August 9. During this time only, patrons can buy certain items and not pay any state sales tax. Go to www.tax.ohio.gov/ to find out what items qualify.
• Back to School Fashion Show, lip sync contest and giveaways: August 8
Join the crowd in Center Court for a lip sync contest starting at noon for a chance to win tickets to One Direction. Following the contest will be the Richland Mall Back to School Fashion Show. Many retailers will be modeling their latest trends for back to school. Space is limited and patrons are encouraged to call the mall office at 419-529-5312 for more information
• Mid-Ohio Jr. Drill Team Performance: August 9, 4 p.m.
A Pompom-Dance-Kick line featuring great music, new friends, good exercise and lots of fun will take place at Richland Mall. Kindergarten through sixth grade will perform in center court. Participating in this performance helps improve a child’s confidence, coordination, social skills and leadership abilities regardless of their ability or disability. • Health & Wellness Fun Day: August 15, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

• American Red Cross Blood Drive: August 28, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The American Red Cross will be holding a blood drive in the north wing next to Christopher & Banks at the Richland Mall. Everyone making a donation will receive a free Cedar Point ticket (while supplies last).
Spots filled up quickly last blood drive, so volunteers are asked to please call 1-800-RED-CROSS to schedule an appointment today. A donation could help save up to three lives.
• Macy’s Shop for a Cause event: August 29, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
This unique one-day-only shopping event was created by Macy’s to support local non-profit organizations. Shoppers may purchase a $5 pass by logging onto: www.macys.com/shopforacause and select Richland to apply.
