SHELBY, Ohio – UPDATED – A Shelby committee is looking for another candidate to run for mayor of Shelby. Steve Schag is the current mayor after being sworn in Dec. 31, 2014. Schag is seeking election in November. Harold J. Shasky, Jr. had also intended to run, but has withdrawn his candidacy.

Because no acceptable application has yet been received, the Committee of Five is continuing its search for a candidate to run for mayor of the City of Shelby on the November general election ballot. The new deadline is Friday, July 31.

Shelby’s Charter requires that a candidate for mayor must be a resident elector of the city. Interested persons are asked to submit a cover letter and resume by this Friday to Committee of Five, c/o Ted Clabaugh, 17 West Gaylord Ave., Shelby, OH 44875.

After certification, the candidate must file a “Financial Disclosure Statement” with the Ohio Ethics Commission. Potential candidates with questions can call Clabaugh at 419-571-0699.

The committee will meet at a later date to review the applications.
