MANSFIELD, Ohio – Deputies responded to a burglary on Monday, July 20 at 11:16 a.m. that had just occurred at a residence on state Route 314, Mansfield.

The female resident reported that a person came to the residence saying he was out of gas and asked if she had any. The victim went to the garage to look for a gas can so that she could give it to the person. When she returned to the front door the person was inside her home. She asked what he was doing and he stated that he was looking for her. She told the person that she didn’t have any gas and he left. After he left she discovered that her wallet had been taken out of her purse.

The resident was able to give a description of the suspect and his vehicle, but was unable to obtain a license plate number.

The case was assigned to the Richland County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit and they began developing leads. In addition, they received intelligence information from the Ontario Police Department. Both agencies worked together on the case which eventually lead to confirming who the suspect was.

The suspect was identified as Tracey Lynn Doster. Sheriff’s detectives, along with Ontario Police located the suspect yesterday in the parking lot of Walmart located on Lexington-Springmill road. Doster was arrested on a parole violation and is currently being held in the Richland County Jail on the Adult Parole Authority’s holder.

On July 23, Doster was charged with one count of F2 Burglary for the burglary that occurred on state Route 314. The sheriff’s office thanks Ontario Police for their assistance. The sheriff reminds citizens that any time there is a suspicious person or activity observed, to call the Richland County Sheriff’s Office at 419-524-2412 so that deputies can respond.
