MANSFIELD, Ohio —Updated– Local drones dealer HYSight Technologies will expand their offerings thanks to a recent 333 Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) exemption they were awarded.

The exemption, which was cleared in June by the FAA and Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), allows the company to conduct business all over the United States. Their drones are cleared for uses that include construction site mapping, surveying, roof inspections, 3-D modeling of sites, precision agriculture, public safety support, and general aerial data collection.

“The exemption basically allows us to be another commercial entity,” explained Ryan Anschutz. He said the exemption, which was applied for by HYSight Technologies, was granted in the public interest.

HYSight Technologies was founded in January 2015. Since then, Anschutz said the company has experienced considerable growth due to an increase of interest in drone by public safety and service sector agencies.

In a Richland Source article published in April, Anschutz also attributed the company’s growth to the low cost of their drones. ““Our technology will give law enforcement and fire departments what they need for possibly under $10,000,” said uAnschutz.

Now other commercial companies with needs for an unmanned aerial system (UAS) can either buy HYSight’s drones or hire pilots to perform specific services. The company is cleared to hire drone pilots that meet FAA qualifications to conduct specific tasks with HYSight’s drones.

“We’re clear all over the U.S.,” said Anschutz. “We’re one of 500 companies in the world that offers this. And we’re the only company in Ohio with such a broad range of [applications] our drones are allowed to do.”

Anschutz and John Bartolucci co-own HYSight Technologies and currently operated out of their homes in Mansfield. Anschutz said they are positioning themselves to generate economic prosperity to the area and Ohio, with plans to expand into larger offices in the near future.

Both Bartolucci and Anschutz are trained FAA pilots and have a combined 20 years experience in public safety.
