Laura A. Hergatt, 75, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away after a long illness on Thursday, June 25, 2015, in Mansfield, Ohio. Laura was born January 15, 1940, in Lorain. She moved to Mansfield, Ohio, after she married her husband of 30 years, Edward L. Hergatt in 1958.
Over Laura’s life, she was a loving wife and mother, real estate agent at Musgrove Realty, and in her last years, worked for Dr. Daniel Duffy in the office. She was a multi-talented woman who was not afraid of a challenge. Laura was always ready to lend a helping hand and she touched many people’s lives with everything she did for others.
Laura was a very active person and volunteered, played golf, and did needlepoint right up to her mid 70x. She was an enthusiastic volunteer for Relay for Life, played in a golf league and joined her friends for a weekly card game. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Lorain.
Laura is survived by her sons, Edward Hergatt and Philip Hergatt, both of Mansfield, OH; and brother, George Knisely of St. Louis Park, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Hergatt; sisters, Patricia Waugh and Betty Biersbach; and her parents, Anna (nee Riedl) Donnelly and Edward Donnelly.
A memorial service and celebration of Laura’s life will be held Sunday, July 12, 2015, at 4 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 4501 Clinton Avenue, Lorain, OH 44055. The Rev. Laurie A. Miller will conduct the service. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to Lorain Relay for Life, North Regional Office, 10501 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44106 and Christ Lutheran Church food bank.
