Golfing With Angels
Donald “Duck” Wilson, 80, of Mansfield, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2015 at the MedCentral Hospital. Born to Gwin and Leah Wilson he lived in Mansfield since birth.
“DUCK” is survived by: his beloved wife Mary Elaine of 60 years; daughter Lynn Tracie Wilson; son Daniel Anthony (Heather) Wilson; brother Robert (Sandra) Wilson, sister Rose Anderson, grandsons Eric Michael (Shawna) Hess, Gabriel Archer Wilson, and Jacob Xavier Wilson; granddaughters Sara Katherine Hess, and Leah Grace Wilson; great granddaughter Joselin Olivia Hess; loving nieces, nephews, cousins; multitude of extended family; and very dear life long friends.
“DUCK” was a natural and highly gifted athlete who loved all sports. A 1952 graduate of Madison H.S., he excelled effortlessly lettering in football, baseball, and basketball. “DUCK” was the quintessential “golf buddy,” who loved the sport beyond joy, but valued the friendship and camaraderie that accompanied it far more. He was a passionate, and intelligent wood maker, who could craft nearly anything he saw, or could imagine from scratch, and without design. He had a thirst for togetherness, and enjoyed spending his life’s time with family and friends playing board games, cards, and back yard activities. One who could always be counted upon, “DUCK” always bestowed his undivided attention in acknowledging others; either by his personal listening, his always-outreached helping hands, or extending sincere gesture in rendering credit to others.
Whether he knew you well, or was meeting you for the first time, “DUCK” was a people person; insanely approachable; a selfless person; a person who could instantly see and appreciate the goodness in others; a person who in ALL instances displayed respect and shared dignity to all he encountered; a person one could trust vehemently for life; a person of genuine integrity; a man of great wealth in character beyond human imagination; simply the kindest man you could ever know.
If there is such a thing as “The Most Honorable Man in The World,” then “DUCK” was him.
“DUCK” was a loving, loyal, and dedicated husband-father-grandfather-great grandfather, and BEST friend to all, and now he golfs with the angels.
