Ruth Reiheld Strong, age 93 of Galion passed away Tuesday morning, June 23, 2015 at Magnolia Terrace in Galion.
She was born December 24, 1921 in Loudonville and was the daughter of Edward Phillip and Louise Agnes (Bash) Reiheld. On October 27, 1942 Ruth married Robert Leighton Strong and they enjoyed 49 years together until his passing in September 26, 1991. She is also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Reiheld I, M.D. and a sister, Ann Higgins.
Ruth was a homemaker having raised seven children and also worked as a nurse in Dr. McMullen’s office in Loudonville. She sewed in her earlier days and was talented at flower arranging. Ruth volunteered at Berea Hospital near Cleveland as a floral arranger. She and Robert moved to Strongsville from Loudonville in 1967. They traveled the United States in their motor home for two years and moved to Galion in 1989. Ruth was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galion and a former member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Strongsville and St. Peter Catholic Church in Loudonville. She was an avid reader of history and wherever she would be, Ruth always sought to find a place to bird watch.
Ruth is survived by her four daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Phillip Fox of Galion, Catherine and Keith Wilson of Sylvania, Elizabeth and Fred Bruneau of St. Pete Beach, Fla. and Jennifer and Leonard Koop of Colorado Springs, Colo,; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Leighton II and Robin Strong of Loudonville, Daniel and Paula Strong of Wooster and Christopher and Janice Strong of Loudonville; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2015 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 135 North Liberty St. Galion with Father John Miller as celebrant.
