MANSFIELD, Ohio – Richland County Sheriff’s Office announced today that Richland County Sheriff Detectives charged one of the suspects involved in the home invasion that occurred in the 1400 block of Rinehart Road, Bellville.
The home invasion took place in the morning hours of April 29. The victim sustained several lacerations and bruising to the face and head from suspects during the incident.
Through investigation conducted by the Major Crimes Unit of the Sheriff’s Office, detectives filed charges yesterday through the Richland County Prosecutor’s Office.
Suspect, Christopher D. Lewis, age 30, of Butler, was charged with aggravated burglary, a first degree (F1) felony.
Other charges are likely to be filed against Lewis at a later date.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the United States Marshall’s Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force to locate Lewis. Task Force Officers arrested Lewis Thursday evening in Butler.
He is incarcerated at the Richland County Sheriff’s Jail.
Sheriff’s Detectives searched the residence where Lewis was arrested and recovered possible stolen items and drug use instruments.
Detectives have developed information on additional suspects through interviews and evidence which will likely lead to additional arrests.
