MANSFIELD, Ohio – The Genius Garage Student Racing Team and Mentorship Program will be competing in the 2015 Vintage Grand Prix of Mid Ohio, occurring at the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course from June 25 to 28.
The team will be entered into Group 10 with other select GT sports cars and sedans raced between 1973 and 1999, which will race on Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28, at 3:20 p.m. both days.
The Vintage Grand Prix of Mid Ohio will mark the team’s second race of the year following a successful race at the Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational in Indianapolis, Indiana, where the team placed fourth overall out of 27 cars and second in their class.
In Genius Garage, students form an actual racing team that not only engineers and builds the car, they are responsible for public relations and business while travelling to various internationally renowned tracks to compete.
Another aspect of the program are the high-end mentors ranging from business CEOs to motorsports professionals and engineering leaders, who take time to guide the students. Also included in the program are learning field trips and research papers.
