The Richland County Retired Teachers Association honored their community volunteer members compiling the most volunteer hours at a recent meeting. Kathy Russell, who logged 683 hours, was honored for having the most volunteer hours. Also recognized was Jackie Bick who served 442 hours. Overall the RCRTA’ s members gave 6,122 hours in volunteer time to the community for a value of $137,745 using the nationwide value of a volunteer hour of $22.55.

The motto of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, of which the Richland group is a chapter, is “To Serve And Not to Be Served”. Statewide, the chapters reported 486,690 volunteer hours for an economic impact of $11,813,629.30 during the past year.
