William L. Bowman

William L. Bowman, 83, of Galion, died Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Galion Community Hospital, Galion after a short illness.

William was born in Morehead, KY on January 29, 1932 to the late Clifford and Vada (Alfrey) Bowman. He married Nancy M. Squires on November 24, 1962 and she survives him.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1957. He retired from Covert Manufacturing, Galion. A member of the Church of Christ in Crestline, he was also a member of the Amvets Post #1979, Galion, and the Galion Owls Aerie #4008, Galion. A hard worker, William would help anyone in need and was known to be able to fix anything. He loved to fish and tend to his vegetable garden.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Larry and Laurie Bowman of Galion; his six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his two brothers, Clay and Ruth Bowman of Galion, and Ronnie and Shirley Bowman of Columbus; his two sisters, Barb Bowman and Bonnie Watson, both of Crestline; and his numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his two sons, Daniel W. Bowman and Michael T. Bowman; and his three brothers, Virgil, Chalmer, and Earl Bowman.

Friends may call Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 10-11 a.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, 223 W. Main St., Crestline. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17 at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline, with Minister Douglas McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in Crawford County Memory Gardens, Crestline. Full military honors will be given at the graveside by the U.S. Army and the Crestline/Galion Joint Veterans Burial Detail.
