William J. Dormaier

William J. Dormaier, 107, of Mansfield, died June 13, 2015. He was born April 24, 1908 in Kent, Ohio and had lived in Mansfield since 1927. Mr. Dormaier retired as Production Superintendent in 1954 from the Mansfield Tire and Rubber Company with 28 years of service. He was also employed at Broshco Fabricated Products. He was a member of the Mansfield Masonic Lodge #35, Mansfield Chapter, Council and Commandery, a 32nd degree member of Valley of Columbus, and a Royal Arch Mason. He was a World War II Army Veteran, serving in both the European and Pacific theaters, and was the oldest living World War II Veteran in Ohio.

Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Jayne Dormaier, whom he married March 11, 1943; grandchildren, Bill (Judy) Dormaier of Mansfield, Rose (Bob) Hartung of Ostrander, Ohio, C. Brian Dormaier of Mansfield, Bob Dormaier of Mansfield, and Mona Kneuss of Mansfield; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and niece, Betty Diekmeier of Ontario.

Along with his parents, William was preceded in death by his son, William A. Dormaier; brother, Albert Dormaier; and sisters, Louise Littrick and Marie Corley.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 10-11 a.m. at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield. A Masonic Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Military graveside services conducted by the Richland County Joint Veteran’s Burial Detail will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Mansfield Memorial Park.
