Ruth M. Williams (nee Murray), 98, died May 29 at Bethany Home in Dubuque, Iowa after an extended illness.

Mrs. Williams previously had lived at 333 Poplar Street in Mansfield, Ohio. She was born in Akron, but spent most of her life in Mansfield. She was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church for well over 50 years, singing in the choir and participating in various other activities. After her marriage in 1938, she worked in the Mansfield Public Schools for 17 years and Dunkin Jewelers for 25 years. She enjoyed 16 cruises with her husband, Wayne, to ports in the Caribbean, South America, Alaska, Australia, and the Orient.

The mail interest of the Williams family was music. Mrs. Williams was an intelligent, articulate person who wrote beautiful poetry for the whole family. She was always curious about life, and was a good friend to many people, and loved talking with all of them. One of her most attractive traits was her sense of humor. There was always much laughter in the home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Williams; mother, Anna Murray; father, John C. Murray; father-in-law, John C. Williams; mother-in-law, Carlotta Williams; and brothers, John E. Murray and Donald R. Murray; and sister-in-law, Aileen Claiborne.

She is survived by her son, Dennis (Susan) Williams of Dubuque, Iowa; daughter, Kathleen (David) Sayre of Amherst, Ohio; grandchildren, Patrick Sayre of Lexington, Kentucky, Adam Sayre of Austin, Texas; Murray (Amy) Williams of Des Moines, Iowa, and Heather (Jeffrey) Kaufman of Waterloo, Iowa; and great-grandchildren, Jansen and Turner Kaufman of Waterloo, Iowa and Ryan, Nathan, and Emma Williams of Des Moines, Iowa.

A memorial service from Mrs. Williams will be held at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond Street, Mansfield on Monday, June 22, 2015 at 2 p.m.. Family and friends are invited to visit for an hour prior to the service, from 1-2 p.m In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made the Bethany Home, 1005 Lincoln Avenue, Dubuque, Iowa, 52001, in memory of Ruth.
