Lois May Michaux, age 73, of Galion died Friday, June 12, 2015 at Crestline Nursing Home.
Born August 27, 1941 in Ford City, Penn. she was the daughter of William and Pearl (Callen) Schiffgens.
She was a graduate of Ford City High School in Ford City, Penn. in 1958 and moved to Galion in 1967. Lois was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and church circles. She owned and operated “Mode O’Day” and “L’Sharen”, retail clothing stores in Galion and was active in the Uptown Galion Associates. After her stores closed she started her second career as a chef after receiving her associate’s degree in hotel and restaurant management from N.C.T.C. in the 1990’s. Lois enjoyed her new profession as a chef working for the Crawford County Council on Aging Meals on Wheels and a Marion nursing home. She was a member of Galion Community Hospital Auxiliary, was a Girl Scout Leader for many years and active in Parents Without Partners.
She is survived by daughters Sharon (Mike) Lowy of Springfield, N.J. and Renee (Mark) Hunter of Grove City and grandchildren Jake and Sadi Lowy and Christopher and Andrew Hunter.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by sisters Martha Hillen and Janet Simpson.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Christ United Methodist Church, 130 East Walnut St. in Galion where a memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, with Pastor Jerry Penrod officiating. Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates in Worthington, Penn.
