John R. Gehrisch, age 64, of Galion passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital after suffering a recent stroke.
Born February 24, 1951 in Galion he was the son of the late John W. Gehrisch and Patricia (Schmitt) Gehrisch who survives. He married his high school sweetheart Rebecca (Meeker) Gehrisch on July 22, 1972 and she currently resides in Galion.
He was a graduate of Galion high School in 1969 and worked for the former Perfection Colby, North Electric Company/ITT, McClain Galion Inc. and Galion Dresser. John coached and volunteered for Galion Youth Baseball. He enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, fishing and watching racing, especially at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by son J. Kris and wife Elizabeth Gehrisch of Ashland; grandchildren Kristian and Xavier and sister Heather Gehrisch of Galion.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 18 with Pastor Thad Gifford officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
